CardiffCardiff Average User Rating: (0 votes, add your vote or comments) Cardiff is a popular destination for surfers and sunbathers alike. Particular areas to look for are Pipes, north of the San Elijo State Beach Campground, San Elijo - in front of the Campground, and Cardiff Reef, to the south where the cliffs end. The campground is popular so reservations are required (800-444-7275). There are lifeguards and restrooms at Cardiff Reef. George's - the popular name for Cardiff State Beach (the coast along the San Elijo Lagoon) is best viewed from one of the beachside restaurants - it is especially dramatic in inclement weather. Parking is occasionally available at the Campground, or check along the highway along the upper end of Cardiff. The only beach staircase in this area is in the campground via the crosswalk at Chesterfield Drive. Use the Campground for access to San Elijo Beach or the Pipes. Parking is available to the south at Cardiff. Parking in the restaurants unless you are dining there is prohibited. Shoes are recommended for the beach and its access.
