At one time, more than 6,000 Italian families lived in Little Italy and toiled to build San Diego into the center of the world tuna industry. Little Italy San Diego is the locate of the annual Little Italy Precious Festa -- one of the largest single-day Italian American festivals West of the Mississippi with over 100,000 attendees gathering to the tantalizing smells of Italian sausage and the glamour of the Italian culture, music & art. It is also the location of the annual ArtWalk each April, and is host to numerous other festivals, carnevales, and events. Little Italy is located between Pacific Highway and I-5 and Ash and Laurel.
