This beach is known for being roomier and less crowded.  Oceanside Harbor, aka 'The Jetties', is a popular surfing area.  Book boat charters out of Oceanside Harbor. 

'The Strand ' or Oceanside City Beach with a boardwalk and pier - is an ideal area for children having a slower and gentler surf.  There are also restrooms, picnic tables, barbecues, and playground.  Nearby attractions include the California Surf Museum and seasonal surf and volleyball competitions. 

North of the pier is Bucaneer Beach - an ideal area to practice surfing with lifeguard supervision nearby.

Also available are a yacht basin and fishing on the pier.

For food try Ruby's Diner on the end of the pier and the fish & chips seafood joints in the Harbor.
